16 Nov Supporting Entrepreneurs in Dragons Den
On Thursday 16th November, during Global Entrepreneurship Week, our Director Katy Kennedy was invited to be a Dragon at the future Young Entrepreneurs Event for Young Enterprise MK 2017. The event saw a number of Teams from Schools across MK come together at Milton Keynes Academy to pitch their business ideas to the Dragon Den Style Panel with a view to securing investment and feedback on their ventures. The Dragon Panel was made up of local business owners, Directors and leaders with a variety of skills and areas of expertise to provide a range of perspectives to Students.
Katy commented after the Event, “It was an absolute privilege to see so many young people share their vision and ideas with such confidence and passion. It was an exciting and rewarding event to be involved with to see future entrepreneurs in action.”
Student Teams that presented to us at the Event are setting up and running real businesses. They have to come up with their product or service, research their market, develop a pricing strategy, understand their marketing and work out how they are going to produce, sell and distribute their offering. With so much to think about the feedback shared between Dragons and Students, helped provide direction and understanding of the market place. A number of Teams came to the Den with well thought out and developed ideas – so it was exciting to help them with the next stages of their journey.
This event was one of a number of School Community based activities Bid & Tender Support are involved in, to help provide students with the opportunity to build connections with real business people in their local community to further develop their skills for future employment and being entrepreneurs. Katy is also part of the Can Do Woman Programme at Milton Keynes Academy, which is set up to support and mentor Young Women to achieve greater levels of confidence and self-esteem.
