      Domiciliary Care Services

      Domiciliary Care Services

By Christine Brown, June 21st 2016

Domiciliary Care isn’t provided by the NHS; however, we see many tenders from local authorities funding care for residents in their area needing assistance. The services required come in many forms to suit the needs of anyone requiring assistance with personal care, housekeeping, meal preparation, medical care or companionship, and their care levels may be anything from a 15-minute visit on a short term basis to 24-hour assistance long-term.

There are many benefits to those looking for domiciliary care over moving to a care home or a lengthy hospital stay, such as less exposure to viruses that can circulate round care homes, and the comfort to the service user by remaining in familiar surroundings or close to local friends, family or social venues they enjoy. Companies successful in bids tend to keep their primary focus on improving the quality of life of their Clients in the least obtrusive way to the service user’s lifestyle.

A company looking to provide these services must be registered with the Care Quality Commission who regulate all homecare agencies to meet the national minimum standards. All potential employees must be rigorously vetted, with references and Disclosures and Barring Service (DBS) checks completed as an absolute minimum. The tendering process will therefore be looking for written evidence that a company has these in place when looking to provide domiciliary care, so detailed company policies and procedures should be kept along with historical evidence of the processes being followed. Evidence of training procedures, disciplinary procedures, staff training on subjects such as safeguarding, data protection and whistleblowing are all also required to produce a winning bid in this field.

If you have concerns about gathering the documentation needed to bid for contracts, Bid and Tender Support Ltd can offer a number of services including assistance with CQC Registration, writing process narratives, ISO 9001 Quality Management Auditing, Developing Company Profiles, and much more.
