Keeping a good business profile stands you in good stead for the future and one way this can be achieved is through local and national business awards. It raises your profile and builds a good reputation which is so important in today’s economic world.
We were recently approached by a company looking to enter their local county business awards; potentially leading to national awards. We had previously written and submitted a winning write-up for them in a different category a couple of years ago, so they were happy for us to write for them again this time around.
The award category was ‘Best Apprentice of the Year’ – which is so important when looking to encourage younger people into the workplace. Tasked with writing this, I called up the MD and put on my reporter ‘hat’. Knowing nothing about the apprentice, their history or why they should be nominated, I spent a good half an hour chatting to the company director who answered my questions, filled in the gaps, and gave me a good basis to write about their valued employee.
Once I had sufficient information, I wrote up the nomination piece and sent it over for client approval. Once signed off, we then went through the process of completing the award site’s portal on behalf of the client – it’s not just sending a small write up and hoping for the best. Again, this is where we come in – we know how to fill in the forms and what company information is needed, in addition to the actual nomination.
Fast forward a few months, and we were delighted to hear that their apprentice had won the category! We are sure that all the nominees were worthy of winning but sometimes, if it’s just based on a written nomination, getting that extra edge with a professionally written piece makes all the difference.
